A Sovereignty Of Choice

About the new book I’m writing…
It took a narcissist with a heartless conquest to change the lives of the young and free in a laid back surfing village.

A novel about the importance of the role of a mother in a male dominant society which offered women little or no choices in the 1980’s. It is a brave journey of self discovery and empowerment with a quiet thread of spiritual influence that carries the narrative forwards and keeps the reader wondering.
At a time in South Africa when the importation of ‘Top Drawer cocaine” was an open door for a powerful Columbian cartel. Virginia Franks, a free spirited but vulnerable single mother, is targeted by a good looking and charismatic drug lord, Ronaldo Martinez.
While she believes that she has found love, it is a matter of convenience for him and she soon discovers his true colours. As the truth unfolds, she finds herself having to deal with the consequences of her spontaneous infatuation and the story unfolds into a series of challenging life lessons. Guided by her awakened intuition, added responsibility and the kindness of friends, she navigates her way in a narrative filled with intriguing characters and journeys of various types. When she finds herself in a compromising position that endangers the life of herself and her two young children, she turns to her parents for protection. But instead is confronted by a cold and calculating mother, a cruel father and decisions which make her journey even harder. A Sovereignty Of Choice highlights the voices of choices as they play out in the lives of all the characters. Revealing themselves in the consequences that each one finds themselves dealing with.
